Livin' on a Prayer

Today has been much better than yesterday. It was a super duper great day, but how many of those are there really?

The first good thing was that Brian called before lunch. We talked for 20 minutes on the phone and then 20-30 minutes on the computer. I felt so much better after that. I told him about my breakdown yesterday. He didn't seem to really understand it or know what to say to make it better, but just having him to listen to my BS for 5 minutes was nice. He's been having a hard week so I know listening to me vent wasn't his idea of a perfect phone call, but he always listens to me regardless. We talked about taking a vacation when he gets home. He wants "a cabin on a lake with nobody around". Hm. Tall order in the part of the country without lakes. I looked stuff up tho and I think I found one in East TX that comes with a pontoon boat. I filed it away in my favorites and we'll see if I can sell him on vacationing in TX instead of going somewhere farther away. We have so much to do when he's on leave that I'd just feel better staying closer to home. There's still alot of time between now and then tho, so I'm sure we'll figure it out.

The other good thing was shopping with Mom tonight. She wanted to go to Sam's to get some pill things and then venture to the mall in search of shorts that fit her to wear to the Cooper game tomorrow. At Sam's I scored a part of Keith's Christmas present. Yes, I know Christmas is just shy of 3 months away, but it was too good to pass up. Now, I just need to remember I have it when Christmas actually rolls around. I also go a CD of Bon Jovi's hits. I'm totally a child of the 80s therefore I love all 80s movies and most of the music. I'm listening to the CD right now. I know about 1/3 of the songs, but so far the others aren't horrible. Besides, Bon Jovi is nice to look at. Proof. Haha! Mom also invested in an 80s classic: Footloose. Kevin Bacon is a secret favorite of mine. I find him adorable in this movie with his skinny tie and super tight pants. Ah I just had fun looking up all of those pictures for those links.

After Sam's we went to JCP in search of shorts and to get our rings cleaned by the jeweler in the family. Somehow Mom left empty handed and I left with two sweaters (see pictures). I got them in the Petite section which is where I am going to have to get most of my clothes. The junior section is just ridiculous for me now. Both of the sweaters are a little roomier than I usually wear, but I'm not a teenager anymore either. I think roomy might be where I need to be heading. Besides, sometimes when something is a little roomy - not oversized - it can make you look thinner. Plus, I can be less aware of my middle and just go about my day. I think they'll both work nicely into my winter wardrobe. Speaking of wardrobe, I seriously need to go through mine. Like, everything. I don't even know where to put these two new sweaters and I've had two long sleeved shirts from Old Navy for weeks that don't have a home either. Sunday's project perhaps? I could probably clothe someone for a year with all the clothes I don't wear or need anymore. I didn't even shop that much this year!

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day. Mom and I are going to the gym early (by 8:30) so we can be home by 10. On the way home we need to stop by Coldstone to pick a cake up for Mom. Then when we get home I need to shower super fast and be ready for Mom's bday lunch at 11. We're doing lunch instead of dinner so Keith can go. He works 1-9 tomorrow which nixes dinner. So we're eating lunch and then Cooper's Homecoming is at 2. It's supposed to be like 88 tomorrow and we'll be sitting in metal bleachers through the hottest part of the day. Should be great fun! After that I guess we're doing dinner, cake and gifts at home. I think Mom will like everything we've gotten her. I always like delivering gifts!

So, because I have to be up earlier than normal, I am going to clean my bed off, get ready for bed, watch What Not to Wear and turn out all the lights promptly at midnight.

Goodnight.
