The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good
  • Promotion points came out today and Brian  has more than enough points to be promoted on September 1st! He works so hard and more than deserves this. I'm crazy proud of him.
  • We are finally on the homestretch of this deployment. Counting the weeks until he should be home isn't quite as depressing as it used to be.
  • My birthday is Friday. I'll be 26 on the 26th.
  • High school football starts this weekend.
The Bad
  • I got us back on the housing list in LA two weeks ago. I keep waiting for that phone call telling me they have a house for me. We are lower priority because we moved out of housing for this deployment (total opposite of how they did it last time). It's starting to stress me out.
  • School starts on Monday.
  • My birthday is on Friday. I don't want to be 26.
The Ugly
  • My brother and I aren't speaking right now. The reasons are much too personal for this blog. It has literally thrown my entire world out of whack and made me question the type of person I am and my expectations of other people. I've been struggling with this constantly for the past week. I'm still unsure of what will happen or where we will go from here.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good

My beloved Cougars won the crosstown rival game!! They lead the series with an all time record of 31-18-1, but hadn't pulled off a win in 6 years. It was amazing to listen to.

The Bad

Remember grad school? The school that is in Texas? Texas being the state that I consider home and use as my state of residence on my tax return? Also the state I am moving back to within the week? Yeah, the school is trying to make me pay out-of-state tuition. Um...no. Ain't gonna happen. I won't go there before I'll pay triple the tuition.

The Ugly

My honey left early this morning. I came home to a freezing house and an uncomfortable air mattress. I just keep reminding myself that we'll be together again a year from now. Plus, there's always R&R to look forward to.

Happy Halloween weekend y'all.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good
I'm officially admitted to grad school. I'm no longer just an "applicant" in their online system. I can register for classes next week. Now I just need the financial aid department to get their butts in gear and let me know how much I will owe them. I'm *crossing my fingers* for some free money. I really don't want more student loans.

The Bad
When I worked last year I had to pay into a "substitute teachers' retirement fund". I wasn't given an option. Whatever. I assumed I could just take that money with me when I moved. Well, you know what they say about assuming.... Yeah, come to find out I have to be "separated" from the school district for a year before I can take the money. Soooo not cool. I think they just want me to forget about it so they keep my money forever.

The Ugly
I ran errands early this morning and needed wanted coffee. I got my usual iced coffee at Starbucks and I think it was stronger than usual. I also didn't eat anything for breakfast so by the time I got home I was wired. I had to drink a glass of water and eat a slice of bread before I sorta started to feel better. I think my boyfriend coffee and I need to have a little break from each other. I'm not a fan of jittery me.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good:
The speed limit on the road between my neighborhood and the rest of post is finally back up to 50. It's been 35 for months while they were repaving the road. I was super excited to see that speed limit sign this morning!

The Bad:
I only saw half my groups this morning. Some were getting their teeth checked and others simply were too busy and behind to have me pull their kids. It was a very boring morning sitting in the chilly hallway.

The Ugly:
The debate raging in my head about what to give up for Lent. It seems like everything I come up with is either too big or small a sacrifice. I need to get on it seeing as Lent starts tomorrow!

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good:

  • I went to the library this morning. I've had a stockpile of books for months, so I hadn't needed to visit the library in some time. I love libraries. I love books. I got a couple books for me and a few books for the kids at work.
  • Our oven is fixed! It needed a new heating element (like I thought) and should be good as new now. Yay!
  • I was in and out of Walmart in less than 30 minutes. And it was only moderately crowded!
The Bad:
  • I had to stand around at the self-checkout at Walmart waiting for someone to retrieve my $1 off coupon from the coupon slot because the woman manning the self-checkouts stuck it in there even thought it had not given me the $1 credit. If you're over-seeing the self-checkout lines, you should know how they work. Just sayin'.
  • The roads around here. Ugh.
  • Tail-gaters. I can - and will - slow down if I can't see your headlights in my rear view mirror.
The Ugly:
  • Almost everyone in Walmart.
  • The Miley Cyrus clothes being sold at Walmart. (They were on the aisle...I promise I did not seek them out!)
