Dressy Clothes

I got up early and showered this morning. I even shaved my legs. I felt like wearing a dress to run errands today. I still haven't moved all of my clothes out of my parents' house so I only had 3 dresses to choose from. I planned to go to Old Navy to use up some coupons so I didn't want to go there wearing a dress I bought from there a month or two ago. This left one dress. I love the dress. I bought it on sale last summer. Whenever I see it I remember where I wore it: I changed into it in a tiny NYC bathroom and wore it to see Wicked with my brother on Broadway.

It's a jersey-style dress and super comfortable. BUT, since it was originally almost $200 and from the "dressy" section of Dillard's, I had it categorized as "dressy" in my mind. This meant that it hung sadly in my closet for almost a year. It was an option for Brian's Welcome Home Ceremony, but I nixed it and chose to wear jeans instead -- casual wins again! This morning I decided to fight my instincts and rock that dress to run errands. I threw it on with my favorite pair of flip flops and felt like a million bucks all day.

My point is this: I'm weird. I try not to wear clothes back to the store where I purchased them and I have mental clothing categories. Most of my wardrobe is from Old Navy so it's hard to shop there and not wear something I bought there, but I usually try. I have some beautiful clothes that I hardly ever wear because I decided at some point that they were too dressy for my day-to-day life. It's sorta sad and one of those small things I'd like to start changing about myself.

Surely I'm not the only weirdo who thinks like this! Does anyone else have weird clothing-related hang-ups??

Girl. I could have wrote this post myself! I have all of these cute clothes in my closet, but I never want to make the attempt to wear them. My mind always says, "Oh, that will be too difficult to handle all day", when in reality, it would be NO different than the tank top and gym shorts I eventually put on. Glad I'm not the only one :)
Oh, and you look awesome in that dress!
