Weekend Recap

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good.

Friday we went to a gathering of Brian's work friends. I really enjoy the couple who was hosting and actually had a pretty good time. I'm definitely not a party animal and don't even enjoy drinking very much, so I was a little apprehensive before heading to their house. I was happy to find very few sloppy-drunk people and a handful of friendly ladies. It's a wonderful feeling to know that after almost a year of living here that I can hold my own at a party of Brian's friends like this. Finally.

Saturday our goal was to find me a new computer. I had found a Dell on Best Buy's website I thought I liked so we headed an hour or so South to Lake Charles and the closest Best Buy. The Dell I found on the computer was entirely too big in person and one of the helpful salesmen pointed me toward a handsome Sony that had similar specs. I was sold on it, but when he went to look for it, they were all out. Figures. So, we left empty handed. At least we got a decent lunch outta the trip.

Once home, I found the computer I wanted on the web and placed the order. I hate how much tax you pay on a computer! It should be here (hopefully) in a few days. I can be really nostalgic about my things, so I'm a little sad to say goodbye to my old Dell, but I know I'll have fun exploring the new computer once it's here.

Saturday night found me parked on the couch watching Game 3 of the World Series. By the time this series is over, Brian will be sufficiently sick of baseball. He's not a big fan, but has been humoring me for the last couple weeks. My Yanks won Saturday night giving them a 2-1 series lead.

Yesterday (Sunday) was a mellow day around here. I woke up early (thank you time change!) and got myself ready for a much needed Commissary trip. We had been scraping the bottom of the barrel for the last week when it came to food. I hadn't cooked a real meal since before I went home 2 weeks ago. I managed to seriously restock our kitchen for less than $150. My best deal? $.75 Ronzoni pasta coupled with a $1 off 2 coupon. Final price per box: $.25. Can't beat that!

While I was shopping my heart out, Brian was back at home picking up the house. Bless him! Tiny's toys and Brian's work stuff was threatening to take over the living room, but as I sit here, the floor is clear. I still have some cleaning to do since I have yet to unpack from my trip home, but I'll get to it.

Sunday night was topped off with another World Series game. The Yanks pulled it off with dramatic fashion in the 9th. They're now up 3-1 and could win the whole shebang tonight. I would really love for them to be able to win it in New York, but if they pull it off tonight in Philly, I'll be just as happy. We'll see how it goes.

Week 2 of work begins tomorrow. Sometime today I need to organize myself. I guess I'll do that as soon as I get off this couch. I'm bound and determined to get outside today, too. The weather is beatifully fall without a hint of rain. It's still a bit chilly right now, but I can't wait for a nice long walk this afternoon.

I'm so sorry this is so long and so boring!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better than last week. Hopefully the first teacher doesn't plan a fun playing-with-shaving-cream activity while I'm trying to teach 6 snotty kids how to rhyme in the corner. Who wants to rhyme when they can play with shaving cream? Thanks for setting me up to fail! Honestly tho, last week went remarkably well.

Happy Monday, ya'll! Hope it's a good one. :)

Glad you found yourself a new computer even if you did have to drive to Lake Charles and come back empty handed. Where did you guys eat while you were there?
